Make what you do enjoyable
If you draw up a plan to do something, make sure it is an enjoyable plan to follow otherwise you will never stick to it. Very often, people come up with a plan but never stick to it for long. For example, one day you are sincere and in deadly earnest when you decide to go jogging every day to keep fit. But after one or two months, if it can last that long, you abandon your jogging routine.
So why do you drop out of the physical activity carried out for the sake of your health and fitness? One of the main reasons is that you have not made your day-to-day routine enjoyable. It can be very boring and tedious when you are not enjoying it. Even though you know you must stick to the routine in order for it to have its desired effects, it is not enough to motivate or encourage you to carry on doing it. You have to have self-discipline to do that if you lack enjoyment.
Having discipline is a must to be consistent. Consistency is a very important factor in achieving success in any attempt to do something. But to be consistent isn’t a simple matter if you don’t enjoy what you are doing. It’s tough to rely on discipline alone to do something consistently and which you don’t enjoy doing. However, if you enjoy what you are doing, discipline is secondary. You will enjoy working hard because it will not be work at all.
If what you are doing is not enjoyable then it can put you under a lot of stress and this would defeat the object of doing it in the first place. One way to overcome this is to think of the things that you do will bring you the consequences that you desire. There are those actions, the more of which you engage in, the more pleasurable effect you will enjoy. You want to do more of them.
Success is a journey, not a destination, and it’s up to you to enjoy every step along the path, so ask yourself what sort of activities you enjoy more than anything else. Formulate a plan to become excellent at doing what you most enjoy. Be smart and refuse to continue working in a situation where you are unhappy for you know that a job you don’t enjoy is a waste of time and a waste of life.
